Volunteering

Could you volunteer one Thursday evening a month?

When Acord moves back to its newly-renovated "home base" in downtown Hamilton right after Thanksgiving, it will expand its hours.  For years the pantry served patrons just on Wednesday and Saturday mornings; starting Dec. 1, Acord will be open on Thursday evenings, too.

Acord's most urgent volunteer need in November / December 2011 is for new volunteers to pack groceries to order for patrons on Thursday evenings (starting Dec. 1).  The shifts will run from 6:15 to 8 p.m. Each Acord volunteer works just one shift a month, on a regular schedule (such as the second Thursday of every month).  Several experienced volunteers on each team will show  new folks the ropes.

Would Wednesday or Saturday morning work better for you?   Also good! -- we need a few more volunteers at both those times.

For more information or to arrange a volunteer schedule, please e-mail Acord’s volunteer coordinator Ann Smith at volunteer@acordfoodpantry.com or leave a voice mail in the “volunteer” mailbox at (978) 468-7424.

If you are interested in volunteering at Acord, please speak with our volunteer coordinator to obtain information, and to arrange in advance specific dates to volunteer. You may e-mail the volunteer coordinator at volunteer@acordfoodpantry.org, or leave a message in her voice mailbox at (978) 468-7424.

Could you pick up donated products at a local store once or twice a month?

Shaw’s and Stop & Shop in North Beverly and Crosby’s Market in Hamilton generously donate food to Acord Food Pantry.  An Acord volunteer picks the products up in the morning before the pantry opens.  Could you make a "pick-up run" 1 or 2 Wednesday or Saturday mornings a month?  Most involve no heavy lifting.  For more info or to arrange specific dates, contact Acord’s volunteer coordinator Ann Smith at volunteer@acordfoodpantry.com or leave a voice mail in the “volunteer” mailbox at (978) 468-7424.

Down the road we may also need "pick-up people" on Thursday mornings. If that works for you, please get in touch now with the volunteer coordinator — she'll get back to you when arrangements are finalized.

Students

Students 14 and older can volunteer on their own at Acord.  Students 13 and younger need to come with a parent (or other adult) who will work alongside them.

We gladly document hours volunteered, for students who need to perform community service to satisfy school, scout, or church requirements.

Court-ordered Community Service

Individuals of any age who need to perform court-ordered community service should arrange to do so elsewhere.  Acord Food Pantry does not document community service for court purposes.
